Making Design Regional with the BIID

Updated: Sep 20, 2023

Here at Design Central our ethos is making design regional by providing access to fundamental resources for interior professionals throughout the country and not just the big cities.

Our flagship event Design Central North West 2023 (our eleventh show!) will feature over 70 brands and this year we have the BIID joining us at the show to connect and engage with our visitors. We are excited to be making design regional with the BIID and caught up with May Fawzy, President of the BIID to talk to us about the show and the importance of regional design...

As an avid interior designer, much like my fellow creators, I eagerly anticipate the Design Central North West event, undoubtedly a highlight for the region. My never-ending quest for inspiration often leads me to explore new avenues, and occasions like this invigorate my creativity while introducing me to fresh concepts and products.

As such, it is important that the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has partnerships with events taking place across the UK. Panels and Q&As we have recently delivered in the North of the UK include: 'Spaces that Work' which explored inclusive design, while 'Successful, Sustainable, Sensational' celebrated award-winning eco-conscious projects.

Events like these are an ideal hub to forge bonds with regional designers and suppliers. Their pulse resonates with the latest trends, amplified by insightful guest speakers who generously share their insights. With great enthusiasm, BIID embarks on a novel partnership with Design Central, partaking in events across North West, South West, and Essex. This represents opportunity, facilitating connections among designers spanning diverse regions—a philosophy mirrored in our all-encompassing Interior Design Awards, which highlights the best of British interior design. We are excited and proud to work across the entirety of the UK design landscape.
